The Rockies Game

This is the first time the kid's have ever been to a Rockies game. I thought it would be so much fun for them to see everything there is to see. But mainly they saw the cotton candy and Lemonade!!

In the bottom of the 6th Lizzie was getting a little antsy so I brought out my ipod for her to color on. Instead of watching the game Ethan kept wanting to play with the ipod. I was trying to get him interested in the game and he just kept asking why Lizzie was able to play on that while he didn't. I said, "she is little and this is not as much fun for her yet. So he told me, "Mom, Isaac and I don't like sports!"
Oh, well at least we tried. It was fun until that 6th inning. At least the Rockies won!!

Summer bike rides!

For the longest time I have tried to get the boys to want to ride bikes... not interested. It didn't even help to tell them who of their friends or cousins were riding bikes without training wheels. We live on the corner of a sometimes busy intersection in our sub-division, so I don't like them riding in the street near our house, for fear of someone not stopping at the stop sign. So in a way I was helping our situation.
Derek was suppose to go camping with the young men in our church so he took the week off after the boy's birthday. So while he had time to help me teach them, that's what we did. I told them that we can not go swimming, read or watch tv (which are the things they love to do) until we attempt to ride the bikes without training wheels. Ahhhh, mom, it's too hard, I can't do it! Is all I heard for a long time, until suddenly they agreed. We took them to the green belt in our sub-division and after 10 minutes or less they both took off. They love it now. They will ask us if we can go for a family bike ride to the church and around the deserted streets beside it all the time. Lizzie has her own seat behind Daddy and we all ride around the neighborhood.

Ethan and Isaac's Birthday Extravaganza!

June 15th-18th

The boys had a wonderful birthday week! On the 15th Isaac had his "Special Day" where he got to choose what we did and ate the whole day, and he also got to have a friend join us for the whole day as well. His friend was Brodie Wright, he wanted mac and cheese for lunch and pizza for dinner. We went swimming and played on the wii. The next day was Ethan's "Special Day", he had his friend Seth Messervy over and we had hotdogs for dinner and went to the pool again. He was going to have pizza like his brother but I talked him out of it because I didn't want to eat pizza 3 days in a row. The next day, was the boy's real birthday and daddy took the day off, so they got to choose together. So they watched their shows with daddy almost all day!

The next day Friday, we drove down to Denver and went to the Wildlife Experience; because they had a National Geographic Critter Cam. They loved the Great White Shark and Penguin's! They had so much stuff that the boys just loved it. Lizzie loved it too because she got to dress up like a Lemur (she didn't want to take the costume off). They even got to pet a snake!

The next day we had a wonderful family reunion in Denver with my Aunt Janet her daughters Nina and Laura, my Aunt Marilyn, my mom and my brother and sister and their kids. Everyone had such a blast.

The only downside was sleeping with Lizzie in the hotel. My Aunt Janet was so kind to get us a room in Denver for Friday night so we could all be together, but Lizzie rolls a lot in her bed, even so much that she has fallen out a couple of time where the bed rails aren't in one night. So Derek and I decided that we would each be on either side of her. She tossed and turned so much that neither of us got any sleep. Oh well, at least she is still a joyous, wonderful girl.

The good with the bad

On May 8th the day before Mother's day, Derek's wonderful father past away. He was an amazing man! We will all miss him very much! He was a Vietnam Vet and was buried in the Fort Logan cemetery.

The day after his burial Derek's sister Caylee got hitched, (we talked her into doing it then since she was going to do it at the end of the month anyway, and all of her family was in town). She had a luau theme. I know Dennis was watching and smiling.

Ethan's refocus note

I thought this 'funny things the kids say' should have it's own posting. Read it and let me know if you have ever heard of another Kindergartner doing this.

On Thursday,
the Principle of Ethan and Isaac's school called. At first I thought one of the boys was sick and the school nurse was calling. I was so surprised to hear Mr. Baldino on the phone. He said that yesterday Ethan had gotten a refocus note because he was batting at the other kids mobiles in class. Instead of taking it home that night like he was suppose to, he signed it with my name at the bottom and returned it to Mrs. Bott the next day. Mrs. Bott had spotted that it didn't look like my signature and Ethan had to talk to him in the hall. Mr. Baldino said that Ethan didn't want to disappoint us and he was very sad when he talked to him. The next day I got this email from Mrs. Bott;

I have to tell you that Rick (the principle) and I had a hard time keeping straight faces when we were reading Ethan the riot act. You have to be pretty smart to try and pull that one off! Aren’t children humbling?

See you on the field trip!

Thanksgiving and new pictures

So I have been slacking in the blogging department. Last month we went out to Utah to visit Derek's sister Ashlee and her family for Thanksgiving. The car trips went surprisingly well for an 8 hour one way trip. The only part that was hard was the last hour our two when Lizzie started screaming for a book when it was to dark to see anything. The kids had so much fun playing with their cousins; and Ethan and Isaac got to sit in uncle Chad's airplane, which was a thrill for them.

halloween fun

Ethan and Isaac LOVE Halloween!! They were so excited to decorate for Halloween that we did it the weekend before October! This year Lizzie is going to be Cinderella; Isaac is going to be Lucifer her cat and Ethan is Bruno her dog; Derek is prince charming and I am the fairy godmother. I'm not so sure how the adult costumes will turn out but the kids are so cute! Everything worked out so perfectly this year. I found Lizzie's dress for $2 and it is a Disney store outfit!! My sister found the cutest dog costume and my mom and I pieced together fur from a skunk costume for Isaac's cat. At first the boys kept changing their minds and Isaac was going to be a shark and Ethan a dolphin because he sounds like one when he laughs. Then they both wanted to be B.O.B. from monsters vs. Alien and then when I found Lizzie's costume luckily they wanted to be the cat and dog and haven't switched. I was trying to talk then into doing an Alice and wonderland theme; where Ethan and Isaac were twiddily-dee and twiddily-doo; maybe next year.

Isaac got a visit from the Tooth Fairy

So Isaac's tooth had been loose for two weeks and at Grandpa's house the first week he was so scared Grandpa would pull it out, when we told him, that he hid under the kitchen table and wouldn't come out for a while. The next week when it was really loose, he let Derek pull it out and he had to ask if Daddy actually did it because it didn't hurt. So, Sunday night he put his tooth in a baggie and made it hang from the top bunk of the bunk bed. In the morning he found a shark toy in it's place. We found out that if you want to see the color of your tooth fairy you leave water on your dresser and it will drop some of it's fairy dust in the water and it changes the color of the water... Isaac's fairy was yellow, his favorite color.

More car trouble

So, on the way home from work on Monday Derek's car, the fun Neon, started to act weird. So Derek called Tynan's and the next morning he called right when they opened. They are suppose to look at it this Monday since Derek had to go on a work trip to Oklahoma until tonight. So now we get to see what happens again. Luckily Derek got a 12 month warranty on the engine and the check engine light is on again. Personally, I am hoping that the Tynan's dealership just gives Derek a better car like our old Saturn.

Lizzie is 2 !!

Lizzie is 2 but if you ask her she will say she is 5!! She turned two on Friday and she's starting to act like it. We had a lot of fun the whole day acting like Mickey mouse club house, that's what she finally settled on. First it was whinny the pooh and then it was Princesses and then it became mickey mouse. Grandma found some old Minny mouse ears that she wore the whole day. We had a mickey CD from the library that had a whole bunch of birthday games on it and so we played those before the boys went to school.
