Santa this year

Isaac and Santa

Ethan and Santa

Lizzie not wanting to sit on Santa's lap

We saw Santa at our church breakfast on Sunday. Ethan and Isaac were so excited, but Lizzie started crying when Derek tried to put her on his lap. There was also a little girl after us who was Lizzie's age and after Lizzie was crying she started crying too.

Snowman

We had a lot of fun today making a snowman in the front yard. Lizzie was running away every few minutes so it's pretty small, but hey it was fun. Isaac was so excited to put the eyes and nose on it. We even had a snowball fight in between.

Family Christmas get together

On Friday we had a fun Christmas get together with my side of the family. My mom and Grandpa Ed were up here for a few days so Tammy and Will and their families came over for our annual Christmas appetizers dinner.

Family pictures

I tried to take pictures of the family last week after church. I used the timer on my little camera and took a couple of shots of the whole family. And a few the next day of the kids. Here is the outcome.

So many things to be Thankful for...

During Thanksgiving prep I was making mashed potatoes and Lizzie found a washed potato and started to gnaw on it. Of course I had to take pictures. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our family. Derek's mom, Carla found a papaya at King Soopers and the boys went nuts when they saw the seeds that look like rolly pollies. Derek made his famous fudge and millionaire pie.

I am grateful for my Family and Friends: they have been so wonderful and helpful during our hardest times. Derek has especially made it easier to get through this past year. He is practically perfect in every way.

I am grateful for the gospel! I have learned how wonderful the priesthood is and how it blesses my life and my family. I am grateful to know the many truths of the gospel. The peace and comfort that came to my soul when we heard the horrible diagnosis. I am glad that the Lord lets us choose to come to him in times of need and times that aren't. And I am most thankful for the fact that I know that I will live with my family again.

Ethan's face update

Ethan's face has slowly gotten worse because of the bruise that formed. He has a black eye as well. We thought this was something that he would like to see when he gets older so here is the documentation.

Ethan's big cheek

We went for a walk last night with our friends before dinner, and Ethan feel running into the house to get his jacket. I didn't realize how badly he had fallen until we were getting ready for bed; his cheek swelled to the size of a golf ball and it is still swollen but now it is bruised as well.

Dexter the Hotdog

On Saturday our church had a Halloween party. The boys had so much fun. Ethan and Isaac were Scrappy Doo (Scooby's nephew) and Shaggy. I was Velma, Derek was Freddy and Lizzie was the Headless Horseman's horse. The hardest thing to find for every one's costume was something for Derek's hair. Since he has a larger than normal head I couldn't use a wig, so I found some yellow hair spray; but since his hair is black it turned his hair green. I didn't get pictures of it though. I even made a costume for Dexter our dog, he is a hotdog.

Putting together the bunk bed

The boys are so excited because last night we put the two beds in their room together to make a bunkbed. Derek put 2 blankets around the bottom bunk to make a fort and now they don't want to leave it.

Visiting Andrew

Birthing class: Derek and I are the first on the left and Ashley and Dave are right next to us.

Big Hugs

Lizzie and Hudson (Ashley's 2nd son); 10 mths older than Lizzie.

I have a friend named Ashley Koenig; we were friends in college and pregnant buddies together when we were both pregnant with our first (kids) in Fort Collins. We did water aerobics together and the birthing class, in fact she started dating her husband after one of my birthday parties in college. Anyway, she moved to Denver almost 4 years ago and we have rarely seen each other since. It has been 2 years and 3 kids since we have seen each other. On Friday we went down to her house to visit for a while. The boys had so much fun with her son who is the same age, Andrew, that it was like they had always known each other. Hopefully they can always be friends.
